Don't forget to take care of these often over looked items:
Backup to a separate computer or hard drive. Make sure the computer is set to backup automatically during a time when the computer is on.
Install anti-virus software and be sure it is up to date and set to update automatically during a time when the computer is on.
Create a limited user and use that user for day to day work. Only use the administrator account for installing software.
Be sure to reboot at least once a week.
